In the summer of 20218, I was part of a team that spent three weeks in Crete, Greece documenting eight, fourteenth-century Byzantine churches. These churches were identified as having fresco remains signed by (or associated with) one of the earliest known named Byzantine painters – Ioannis Pagomenos. The team systematically photographed and analyzed the current architectural conditions of these churches.
